you may have performed a search on the name Daniel Fitzgerald in hopes
of finding the actor, the flash creator, fictional
character on Neighbours,
or someone else. I'm not a big fan of flash
so

Fitzgerald is a Hiberno-Norman surname meaning "son of Gerald". The term Hiberno-Norman is used to describe Norman lords who settled in Ireland, who admitted little or no allegiance to the Anglo-Norman settlers of England. The prefix "Hiberno" means "relating to Ireland or the Irish" which is closely associated with the latin word "Hibernia" meaning "Ireland".
Early on, the Fitzgeralds where known as rebels against English rule. The first being Gerald Fitzgerald, the 15th Earl of Desmond who was the leader of the Desmond Rebellions in 1579 and the other being Thomas FitzGerald, the 10th Earl of Kildare who rebelled against Henry Vlll in the early 1500. Later on through the centuries though, Fitzgeralds have been known for being Authors, Poets, and Polititions.
Probably one of the most famous individuals who was honored with the name Fitzgerald did not actually carry the name as a surname. That would be John Fitzgerald Kennedy. He was given the middle name after the surname of his grandfather, John F. Fitzgerald. John was born in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of Irish immigrants who coincidently was very active in the Democratic Party and became a member of the Massachusetts Senate. He later became the first Irish-Catholic to hold office as a Boston mayor. John F Fitzgerald linage was passed on to the kennedy family through his daughter Rose who later married Patrick Kennedy's son Joe.
